大笑健身藉由不同活動,如深呼吸和以笑聲引發的身體活動,增加體內細胞的氧合作用和血液循環,以增強免疫力及維持精神健康。大笑健身不止是年輕人或身體健壯人士的專利,我們希望每一位都能笑著一起做運動。所以在活動過程中,職業治療師會因應不同人的身體狀況調節活動內容及程度,讓每位參加者都能一起笑著做運動,投入參與當中,從而提升整體的健康狀況。
不少海外機構曾針對不同類型的服務使用者進行學術研究,包括患有帕金遜症、腫瘤病、中 風、抑鬱症(女性和兒童)、曾進行器官移植的患者,以及長者和學生。研究均指出大笑活動能為身心靈帶來正面且持續性的好處。
